Robert McMonagle of Forfar contacted us a year or so ago looking for a little chat and a bit of guidance on the long road to McMonagle research. His family were having their first gathering in a hotel near my home and he asked if I would come along and say hello. All went well and Robert was only to pleased to listen to some of my ideas. From that first contact it was evident that Robert was a driven man and would be marching on, in his search for McMonagle genealogy. Like ourselves he opened a contacts page on the web, ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/McMonagles-Gathering/ ) so that family members could keep in touch and share photographs and birthdays.
Following on from their first meeting Robert was keen to not only search out his family, but to bring them together at a yearly gathering.

A second event was arranged, again for Glasgow, and this time the numbers were greater, with people travelling from as far afield as Australia. It was a full week-end event and they were keen not to just be sitting around all week-end, so a couple of different events were organised. One of there outings was to McMonagles Restaurant on the Forth & Clyde Canal at Clydebank. This restaurant is one of a kind; it has the worlds first sail-thru window!
A Plaice for the family
A phone call was made to the local press and they were kind enough to go along, take a couple of photo and give them a little coverage in their paper.
Robert initially came from Drumchapel in Glasgow and like many families are now spread all over the country.
